The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that "things are getting better despite criticism," and stressed that the economy expanded 30 points in August compared to April, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Head of State stressed that the health situation, as well as the economic indicators, have shown signs of progress. Thus, his administration continues to work on job creation.

"The economy is being reactivated and, in the month of August, the economy has improved 30 points compared to the month of April (...)," he stressed.

"On the one hand, the health situation and the economic indicators are getting better; now we want to create more jobs, and we are doing so," he added.

The top official said that despite the decrease in COVID-19 infections, his administration continues working to strengthen hospitals' capacity nationwide.

Likewise, the statesman indicated that —of the total 8.4 million households which will receive government grants— 3 million will do so this weekend.

"That means we are more efficient," he noted.

Lastly, Mr. Vizcarra asserted that "things get better despite so many detractors, despite so much criticism," adding that his administration listens to opinions coming from all sectors.

"We listen to them, we welcome them, and we make changes," he concluded.
